Composition by Izzy Gliksberg.

The piece is based on the Sufi tale of the three moths. The story, told by the Persian mystic Mansur al-Hallaj (c. 858 -- 922), tells of three moths that go out into the night to see a marvelous flame. The first one sees the flame and is astonished by the light. In the morning he comes back to tell his friends about the flame's undying light. The second moth then travels to see the flame and gets closer then the first, so when he returns in the morning he tells his friends of the flames warmth. The third moth travels to see the flame and is completely enchanted by the fire, so he throws himself into the flame.

Text

Far, over the hills

Across seven white deserts

Across seven black seas

If you throw yourself inside

Scattered in all directions

Giving it all

Until the ashes grow

Lighter than air
