This is my fifth and final short film as a Film student at the University of Notre Dame. I wrote this screenplay last spring and shot the film on location in Gloucestershire, United Kingdom, in May, 2009. The film was funded by a grant from the Nanovic Institute for European Studies.
We shot the film in three back-to-back-to-back days, ably assisted by John and Maria Elliott, our hosts for the shoot.
A few fun bits of trivia:
The car is an authentic 1933 Lynx convertible.
The train in the opening of the film is the actual Hogwarts Express used in the Harry Potter films.
Rose's costuming was inspired by a Judy Garland costume from the Busby Berkeley musical, "For Me and My Gal": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOsCYEGHnME
Sixteen cigarettes were smoked in the making of this film. None of them were enjoyed.
The music featured in the film is from the "The Holiday" soundtrack by Hans Zimmer.
I hope you enjoy the film as much as I've enjoyed creating it.
BTW,
My viewing of Part 2 should eventually show up as the 302nd!
P.S. I've added this as a "Favorite" on my "Channel," PadreVideo7709.

Joe,
I'm very glad that Joel told me about your posting of your film. Seeing it brings a particular sense of fulfillment since I'd seen Maria Elliott's blog posts related to it but didn't quite understand stand what it was all about.
Count on my using your idea of "a gift exchange" rather than a bargain with God in homilies or spiritual direction or other pastoral-teaching settings! I'll give you credit & point people to your YouTube "Channel" to watch it!!
