Some ridiculous comments here. Of course she is suprised, because it's unexpected. As for the comment, 'you go back far enough, you can find ancestors from just about any country' is ignorant in the extreme. You won't find many ancestors from America because it ain't that old!

When you dont know any thing about your ancestors why WOULDNT you be a little surprized at a connection you knew nothing about. NOT shocked but suprized by an American connection is not unreasonable. I find surprizes in my ancestery not shock but surprized.

i don't think she's naive at all.. she honestly just never thought they'd have american descendants.. it's nothing to do with thinking americans are a "step down".. i think she's genuinely happy about it all :))

@levanyzzuf Jodie is a model from a posh english family....to them "americans" are generally considered socially a step down. Which is why she is surprised of an american connection.

@levanyzzuf naive? jodie kidd just plays along with the program of the makers of the series - who play again along the lines of thinking that you have to dramatise the content in order to keep the story interesting for the audience - or to make the audience feel superior...

What's so surprising about finding an American line? If you go back far enough, you can find ancestors from just about any country. It's amazing how naive some of the celebrities are on this program.
