http://www.ted.com Strapped to a jet-powered wing, Yves Rossy is the Jetman -- flying free, his body as the rudder, above the Swiss Alps and the Grand Canyon. After a powerful short film shows how it works, Rossy takes the TEDGlobal stage to share the experience and thrill of flying.

TEDTalks is a daily video podcast of the best talks and performances from the TED Conference, where the world's leading thinkers and doers give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes. Featured speakers have included Al Gore on climate change, Philippe Starck on design, Jill Bolte Taylor on observing her own stroke, Nicholas Negroponte on One Laptop per Child, Jane Goodall on chimpanzees, Bill Gates on malaria and mosquitoes, Pattie Maes on the "Sixth Sense" wearable tech, and "Lost" producer JJ Abrams on the allure of mystery. TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design, and TEDTalks cover these topics as well as science, business, development and the arts. Closed captions and translated subtitles in a variety of languages are now available on TED.com, at http://www.ted.com/translate.

  • He looks like the old Xmen movie and realize a Xman act ! Great men !

  • currently its just some booster on a glider, it need the capability to take off from ground. Can't wait for the years to come.

  • Yves served as a fighter pilot in the Swiss Air Force, flying Dassault Mirage IIIs, Northrop F-5 Tiger IIs and Hawker Hunters. He flew Boeing 747s for Swissair. As of 2008, he was flying for Swiss International Air Lines

  • pure freedom, the true essence of life....

  • Someone please send this to the Wright Brothers.

  • just imagine if we could buy these in dealerships

    what a dream

  • To Infinity and Beyond!

Seriously though, it would be cool if this could be turned into a spectator sport. Might become the new macho testosterone sport, ahead of IndyCar racing. That would help to evolve the technology faster, too. I can picture the Goodyear blimp over a stadium/field, with a bunch of these jet-men jumping out and zooming around, to kick off the jet-men games.

  • What do people who have experienced this kind of adrenaline dream about? Going to work? Is flying this a job?

  • This is just the beginning of flight, up and down with jetspeed. Sooner, they are going to build an Iron Man suit for Yves Rossy -Iron Man. No more Jet Man.

  • dear santa......
