Cowboy Ranch Roping at the I D Ranch in Wyoming - Real Cowboy Country

This roping was held on one of the largest ranches in Wyoming - the Cowboy State. We had hands travel over 5 hours north and south to attend and help. This is the real deal and the type of work the saddles we make are made for.

We kinda got in a hurry with a storm coming in over the mountain from the west... So they weren't too picky as the lightning was getting closer. By the time it hailed on us my Camera Battery was dead, they had 5 head to go in the hail storm and got them done and I wish like heck I could have gotten that footage.

Exelente video; todo está muy hermoso: buena música, se ve el ganado vacuno de muy buena calidad; bonitos y finos caballos y buenos vaqueros. Sólo una observación si me lo permiten, para algunos de los lazadores (no todos) que aquí se ven: estaría mucho mejor que no bajaran la vista hacia la cabeza de la silla a la hora de amarrar; éste movimiento se ve mejor si se hace con naturalidad y mirando siempre al animal que se laza. Por todo lo demás ¡¡ Feliciades !! UN SALUDO DE VAQUERO.

É muito interessante como o estilo Americano unido a versatilidade do cavalo Quarto-de-milha torna universal a maneira de lidar com o gado. Mundialmente existem varios estilos de marcar o gado, porém a habilidade técnica utilizada no team roping é contagiante, não é atoa que tornou-se um esporte mundialmente praticado!!! Meus parabéns aos criadores do video, mostra-nos as raízes de uma cultura admirável!!!

@sohcsarewicked There are no bonus points for a jerk down if that is what you are implying. Jerk downs give the contestant a SLOWER time!!!!!! Let me emphasize the word SLOWER!!!!!! You win by being faster!!! DUHHHH. If you must pick a calf up after it is already down and RE-FLANK it, you will not be as fast as a person with a clean run. I never said it was necessary in fact if is not wanted! You are ALREADY penalized and could be disqualified!!

Also if you jerk down a calf it forces the roper to get the calf up and flank it down, thus adding to the time. It is not a positive. The fast guys like Cody Ohl, and Trevor Brazile rarely jerk down a calf. It is never done purposely by the real pros.

@sohcsarewicked Ok for the last time, jerk downs are unnessary but they happen. And I never said "strict" rules. They are now readily enforcing the jerk down rule as of Feb 2011. Perhaps while trolling the internet you found old pictures or watched Shark propaganda but I assure the rule is now more widely implemented. But like an unnessary roughness rule in football it can be subject to interpretation.
