i do freestyle roller skating, which is a lot harder then artistic and the older u r the less likely u r to get hurt, the worst u could prob do on the floor is break a bone but nothing more :)
The 80s were the closest Roller Skating game to being an Olympic event. It made it as an exhibition sport one year. After it was passed over AGAIN in the 90s it declined. There are still some very good skaters today but the sport, overall, is nothing like it was 20 years ago Search youtube for John Arishita, Tammy Jerue, Tina Jerua, Larry McGrew, and Tim McGuire. These were the best skaters the sport has produced. I am missing many others but those are the tops that come to mind.
Yeah, I have base roll line mariner cup, or something like that. All I know is under the chassi it says Risport Mariner or something, lol. That's was extra light some years ago, and still is, eventough it is not the best... But it doesn't make such of a big difference from the very very old skates that belong to the rink I practise in.
I'm trying to buy Edea Fly and Roll Line Matrix. ^^ Hard enough since I pay mt practise and everything related. --'
Yep, my boots are carbon fibre and they dont make a difference!! im the same on ice but thats what i was told by my roller coach whos an ice skater so im not sure :S
You're never too old to do something you really want! ;) Why don't you try it? ^^
You know, everyone said I was too old when I started, I was 17. I really didn't mind and tried hard, and I developed very fast. Now my coach doesn't want me to go to another gym. XD You could try it, you know? :P
I would love to start artistic roller skating! But I think I am too old. Hey does anyone know if artistic roller skating will become an olympic sport or if it already is?

Well, I find balance way easier on roller skates, lol. Maybe because I'm used to it, I don't know, but for me it is harder to keep balance on ice.
I just find the jumps harder on figure roller skating because the skates are very heavy. :s Mine are "extra light" or whatever, still, heavy enough.

ive been told that its easier balance on ice because the blades are sharpened and they have edges to glide on.

It depends, lol. Balance is harder on ice but the jumps are easier. To jump on roller skates you need to apply way more strenght.
