The original Magic Flute was created for a small theater in Vienna, and so is a Singspiel, or musical play. In keeping with this, the Comic Opera Guilds Thomas Petiet crafted a translation that is both less grandiose than many operatic versions and sings well. This 2002 production was designed to travel easily and was toured throughout Michigan. In Act 2, the Three Ladies (Angela Peavey, Kara Alfano and Kristin Walukas) want to know why Tamino (Chris Meerdink) and Papageno (Thomas Petiet) are trying to enter Sarastros order rather than kill him.
