Back in 2010 I decided to take a road trip across Canada...by myself. Quite literally I just up and decided. It took two months of planning and saving up, but on August 23rd, 2010 (the day after my birthday), I left.
The trip took me from my home town in Vancouver all the way to Halifax (and then back again). Along the way I made it a point to always take notes of things like fuel consumption, distances traveled, fuel costs, etc etc. It's part of my OCD nature to do things like that. I will share the details of those notes at the end of this video series.
For starters, here is a list of the estimates that I was working with:
Estimated Total Travel Distance: 12600 km (based off Google Maps, does not include any side trips I may take or any shortcuts)
Estimated Total Travel Time: 20 days, 17 hours, 30 minutes (assuming early morning to late evening trips, only stopping for gas/food/stretching).
Estimated Fuel Cost: $1200 (this is a low estimate based on results I have seen from Highway driving, with an average fuel cost of 105 cents a litre, stopping every 520 km).
Estimated Daily Drive Time: 12 Hours (does not include stopping time)
Departure Date: August 23rd, 2010
Return Date: September 12th, 2010
How well did I do? You'll just have to wait until the end of the series!
