@karozans Exhibit A, New Jersey. Camden is one of the most violent cities in the U.S. and NJ has some of the strictest gun laws in the country.

@weisschr Proper comparisons to what? Lott's numerous studies on the subject compares states with more restrictive gun laws with states with less restrictive laws, with those definitions clearly delineated in both the abstracts and body of the studies. Can't get more apples-to-apples than that. And what has these studies shown? While you are correct in that the violent crime rate has dropped across the board, it has dropped more precipitously in states with less restrictive laws.

In Arizona, anyone can carry a concealed gun. No license necessary.

At 6 years old I was shooting guns on a daily basis.

Like it or not, states that have the most relaxed gun laws are the safest places in America to live. States that have the most guns laws are the most dangerous places to live.

It sounds like you allow your crazy, irrational emotions to guide your judgements instead of hard data.

PS. I've used guns for 26 years have never shot anyone.

WTF! So in USA even the women cary concealed weapons? Does any one else see how fucked up that is? Why not children and pets while you are at it? That men are insane in that fucked up country is no news to the rest of the world. But women too? This could very well be the single most stupidest thing I've ever seen. I wonder what the poor Canadians think of their crazy ass neighbor? LoL is this for real or what? Do some people living in america realy think that guns can do anything else than harm?

i see some dumb, dumb comments on this page. You can't simply state that crime didn't go down...there are too many factors to compute. I see people comparing other countries to the US. Apples and oranges. This country's history sets it apart from any other society in the history of the world, and our fundamental right to defend ourselves with guns is huge factor that has shaped us, and therefore makes any comparisons to other countries ridiculous.

@FuriousFatMan More myths.. Do your own homework on Australia, England and the other countries. Australia never had a constitutionally protected right to bear arms in the first place, and actual number of crimes was small. England has one of the lowest rates of gun crime in the world, etc. Really... both sides in this debate have grossly exaggerated their data. Gun ownership rights and restrictions have very little impact on crime in developed nations.
