A video tribute to the late Bob Evans, made by River Valley High School students Brody Lookado and Ellie Sanders for a History Day competition. The video has qualified for the state-wide Ohio History Day competition on April 25, 2009, at Columbus State Community College. Special thanks to Robbin Evans, Bob Evans Farm Inc., OACHE and University of Rio Grande for clips, pictures and music.

The late Bob Evans left a tremendous legacy of service to Ohio, particularly its rural and Appalachian communities. A new book by his daughter Robbin Evans and retired Columbus Dispatch columnist Mike Harden not only pays tribute to that legacy but will support the work of one of the organizations he helped create: the Ohio Appalachian Center for Higher Education. A Bountiful Heart: The Life of Bob Evans goes far beyond his more well-known accomplishments as founder of the major restaurant chain that bears his name. Bob was devoted to his family and community, to the sustainability of small family farms, and to increased educational opportunities for young people. The book is available for purchase online at www.abountifulheart.com.

The music at the end is called "Gallia County Farm Boy" by Howie Damron (www.howiedamron.com) from his album, From the Heart.

  • Good job, ladies!!!!! This was very enjoyable and informative - even though you will both admit that your microphone use needed improvement. But hey: every project is a LEARNING experience, right? And I'm sure that you would work the mike much better now, two years later. The facts are well-presented; the video is well-synchronized with the text; and your speech isn't too fast, either. Thank you very much for sharing this - and best of luck to you both in the future.
