To be fair a right winger like Ahmadinejad will be more likely to be able to influence Iranian politics, rather than a reformist that will be ignored. Remember in Iran the president is not all that powerful unless the religous leadership backs them - saying that a close run election would be good as it would indicate to the religeous leadership that they cannot risk going further right-wing.
