The original clip is from Craig Tull. Take a look at his clip on Vimeo:http://vimeo.com/6823643
I deliberately brought the clip into a 10fps timeline and the grading a bit over the top - just for testing...

  • grading imo doesn't look too over the top. The clouds are friggin amazing. What'd you do to it?

  • @JDgoggles

Thx. I just noodled around in photoshop cs4 with some color-grading-tools like digital film lab, the dynamic effect, blend modes...etc. Sorry, I didn´t make notes....

  • @capice2 So the photoshop cs4 can edit videos?

  • @Podegra

    Yes, the "Extended" version...

  • something's just not right about this clip, it's like... I can actually see it frame by frame, I think a blur filter would've worked well.

  • @SCHIZOPHRENlC

Man, slowly but surely I get sick answering the same thing over and over again. Please take a look at the info...

  • I prefer the original...

  • Thats crazy, looks like an HDR video! I want to learn how to do that... how about a how to? haha

  • whats the song on this video ?

  • Looks like a video game, looks really blended and smooth lol

  • @johnblaster since we're talking about color correction, can I have your opinion on one of my videos I just uploaded recently? It's Just Ride - FR/DH trailer. There is also a before/after on the color correction, a link in the video description.

  • @StuartHaight Definitely the color correction, I'd say. But it's no big deal, I shouldn't have come in here and started talking like this was a pro movie. I know he's just messing around, he'll learn for the future though.

  • @johnblaster Yes I saw they were crushed, it could be possible that it may have been done while capice2 was applying color correction? Bleh either way we probably shouldn't take it too seriously and capice2 did say in the description "grading a bit over the top..."

And I just realized that a polarizer won't work on clouds, maybe that's what you were talking about because I was a bit unclear on what you said, it's 'gray-ish' because he did something kooky in the color correcting...

  • @StuartHaight I understand that, but that is not what I am talking about. Pause the video at 0:19 and take a good look at the clouds compared to the white background of YouTube. They should match, since at this exposure, that area of the clouds is completely blown out. But when you see the two side by side, It's very clear that his highlights are literally mid-level gray. (I compared this frame to a value chart.) They are crushed. The blacks aren't though upon further inspection.
