The other day I was reading an article on gizmodo about some kid who stole $30,000 worth of belongings including a laptop. Anyways it made me think if my laptop were to ever get stolen.

There are two applications. A "Server" and the main, "Client".

Getting started:
-run the "Server"
-Click "Register".
-Wait until you get the message "Registration Complete!"
-Close and reopen the "Server"
-Copy the main "Client" along with the userid.txt file to a flash drive or other media make sure both files are in the same location.
***You have successfully installed the tracking software on your pc.***
In case your computer gets stolen:
-Plug in your flashdrive and open the main "Client"
-Click the "Open Report" button to report your pc stolen.
-The next time the stolen pc is connected to the internet it will submit its ip address to your account registered with Track My PC.
-Every day open the main "Client" and click View IP Log and wait for it to show in the list.

An IP address is like a house address it tells you where the computer is located. You can use that IP address and report it to your local police department and find out who and where the IP address is registered to.
