Simple variations for classical guitar on the old Irish melody "Paddywhack".
The recording here is of John Mitchell sight-reading the piece back in 1986, (so please excuse the odd fluff).

The original Irish Jig "Paddywhack" is, of course, much faster than this version - this is more of a gentle amble through the Irish countryside, bringing out the underlying beauty of the melody.

The score can be obtained here:

(Of course, those with a feel for the jig are welcome to play it at jig speed.)

The lovely images of the countryside in the Irish counties of Connemara, Mayo, Donegal, Sligo and Kerry were photographed by "Patrice78500" - (which is of course the French for Paddy ;-))

  • Hi David,

very nice, both the guitar playing (though not you) and the editing of the still shots!

May I ask which editing software you use for assembling the video?

    Cheers,

    Reinhold

  • Hi Reinhold

Glad you enjoyed it. The editing software is the Vista bundled version of "Windows Movie Maker" - I keep discovering new things it can do :-)

  • Hi Joe, not my playing this time.... John Mitchell played it for me.

  • My Dear Friend, Your guitar playing is so relaxing. I love the way you play the guitar. I could listen to this style of guitar all day and night. I hope you share more videos with your guitar solos. I love the travail threw the hills. This is one of your all time best. Have a great Sunday tomorrow and I hope you have the best start to your new week ever. God bless you and your family.

  • Wonderful.
