  • looked like it happened on purpose - cab clearly stopped to let someone out.

  • @shehant

It is illegal to do that in the bike lane in MA. They are required to pull off onto a stret that does not have a bike lane if order to drop someone off.

  • Ouch!!! That's gotta hurt. It's great that there are bike lanes. Now on to phase 2... "Complete Streets", so that there are less of these accidents.

  • @MrTimVeal

No, Phase 2 should be educate the driver so to know the difference between a bike lane and a parking lane

I wish we could get those in Boston

  • thats why we have protected bike lanes in chicago

  • Woman, of course.

  • @EthanF727 Agreed. But I personally wouldn't try to ride through a gap like that with any speed. I'd prefer to die of old age 60 years from now

  • @hagenar

The driver is still at fault for pulling over next to the bike lane knowing the door would open into the bike lane.

  • To clarify: doored by a cab passenger, not a cab driver. You can't educate everyone. You need to watch out for high risk situations like this one.

  • Anytime a vehicle's in the bike lane, I move into the "car" lane. Bad idea to squeeze yourself in those situations, as you found out.

  • I saw you at the halloween ride and you told me out the video, found it no problem! sean with the blue peugeot...glad you're ok :3

  • @GoondocksCastle

Riding a bike in the city is cimilar to driving a car in the way that you get put in situations where you have a short time to make decisions. Sometimes you make the wrong decision as a result of lots of pressure and very little time. If I could redo this I would go the other way around the cab. But I would also spit on it for choosing a dangerous spot to drop off it's passenger.

  • My favorite part was how you saw a cab there and decided, "Okay, let me use my brain in this situation - what might happen next? Whatever, let me go in through this tiny space." Part of being a defensive driver is to scan inside cars. Why did you go inbetween? Nevermind, don't answer that - I have my answers.
