United Nations, 20 March 2009 - Daily Briefing by the Office of the Spokesperson for the Secretary General. The Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, welcomes the entry into force of the Treaty on a Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone in Central Asia. Opened for signature on 8 September 2006, it has now been ratified by all five Central Asian States (Republic of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Republic of Uzbekistan) and will enter into force on 21 March 2009.
