LUCKY LOOKING FOR HIS FOREVER HOME!

Lucky is an adorable Beagle/Foxhound mix. We believe he is between 1-2 years old. Lucky was rescued from a high-kill shelter, just minutes before he was scheduled to be euthanized. This sweet boy lived at the shelter for 6 months and it was obvious to everyone who passed his kennel that Lucky wanted to live.

Luck's sweet nature and engaging eyes make him stand out in a crowd. He is a recent potty training graduate and is finally allowed to live outside of his crate; Lucky is crated at night so he feels safe. Lucky has plenty of puppy power and he's curious about everything. Lucky thinks it's his job to investigate every nook and cranny in the house. His sharp senses always lead him to something interesting & I'll miss his ability to spot a bug and kill it before we know it's there. : )

Our home, cars & daily routine are a whole new world for Lucky. He's learning everything for the first time and it's been a pleasure to watch him blossom. Lucky appreciates learning boundaries and enjoys being a good boy; he lives to make us proud. When Lucky crosses the boundaries, or thinks that we're upset, he's quick to apologize by showing his belly and giving us his cutest face. We joke that he looks like the cat from Shrek, "more please". ADORABLE!!!!

If I'm doing chores around the house, Lucky can be found playing w/our 2 year old lab. They can spend hours playing keep away and chase. If Lucky is away from my side for more than 20 minutes he come find me, nudge me with his nose and then he'll sit down and wait for love. : ) Lucky is as sweet as they come. If I'm in the office working he will come up to my chair and place his head in my lap, with those big brown eyes staring up at me until I stop and give him a squeeze.

Lucky's day starts by leaving the crate and going straight out to potty. Then we leash up and take a walk with the pack. Lucky is awesome on a loose leash and enjoys walking our 3 dogs. After the walk we eat. Lucky likes to have company while he gets his grub on. He also loves his Kong and will eat any bone set in front of him. If another dog takes his bone, he will find another one. Lucky has shown zero signs of food or toy aggression and he likes to share. Lucky lives outside of the crate in the daytime among our pack of 3. Lucky likes to harass our youngest dog Sway-Z by biting his face and legs. This usually results in tug-o-war, wrestling or a game of chase.

Lucky is a little skittish around new people, especially men in hats. The more positive experiences he has, the easier it will be for Lucky to trust new people. He isn't mean, just hesitant. His body backs away and tries to avoid the situation. For example, the other day we were walking. There was a couple dropping off their kid at the bus stop. I said hi and chatted for a moment. In that time Lucky wiggled out of his collar in an effort to back away. He didn't run, so I knelt down and spoke very calmly while opening my arms. I said "Come here Lucky...you're a good boy...c'mon boy...its ok..." and he walked right up to me, sat down and let me put the collar back on him. The phrase "Good boy" works like magic on Lucky.

With Lucky it's all about being calm. He can read energy from a mile away, so if you are a highly energetic person, then Lucky will be a highly energetic dog. If he's with a calm energy then his energy will be calm. Lucky does best with 1-2 walks each day. Lucky is incredibly trusting with a heart of gold.
