Till the End of Time [Chapter 15 Part 1]

CHAPTER 15

*Back at Brynn's house, the girls all say hi to Mrs. Lesce, Brynn's mother, before heading quickly upstairs and settling themselves around Brynn's room. Gabrielle flops into her magenta bean bag chair, while Paige lounges on Brynn's bed and Brynn sits herself on her cozy purple couch.*

GABRIELLE: Okay, Brynn. Spill.

BRYNN: *Simply.* Alright.

PAIGE: Wow, and I thought this was going to be hard to get out of you!

BRYNN: Why on earth would I keep from you something that is making me happier than I have been in, like, forever?!?

GABRIELLE AND PAIGE: Awwwweeeee!

*Brynn grins sheepishly at them.*

PAIGE: So? Tell us what happened today?

GABRIELLE: Yeah, what was that little kiss about?

*Brynn, blushing slightly, tells them what everything that had happened at breakfast. Paige and Gabrielle squeal and "aww"-ed in all the right places, making the story even more fun for Brynn to tell. By the time she was done, Gabrielle and Paige could not wipe the smiles off their faces.*

GABRIELLE: So, are you, like, going out?

BRYNN: Well, I don't think so...I mean, we haven't really kissed or anything. Just hand holding at the table and then the kiss on the cheek that you guys saw. But he said he was excited to see me again!

PAIGE: That is so cute! It's like a little love story! But you and Joe Jonas are the stars!

BRYNN: Yeah, I have to pinch myself all the time to believe that it's real! I mean, I would never have guessed, a month ago, that I would have held Joe Jonas' hand! It's amazing!

GABRIELLE: Yeah, it is. Now I just wish my story with Nick could have a happy ending, too.

BRYNN: *Turning to Gabrielle.* Aha! I knew you liked him!

GABRIELLE: No, don't be stupid. I don't mean a romantic happy ending. I just mean...well, he seemed all upset today, and I don't know why. I hate to leave with him in a bad mood. I mean, he is one of my best friends and we talk about everything. How could I lose him over something I don't even know if I did!

PAIGE: *Who had stayed quiet all through Gabrielle's speech.* Maybe...well, did you tell him about Jacob?

GABRIELLE: Of course! Like I said, we talk about everything.

PAIGE: Well, I don't know if that was the best idea.

GABRIELLE: Why?

BRYNN: *Looking incredulously at Gabrielle.* Gabrielle, are you honestly blind?

*Gabrielle looks at Brynn confusedly.*

BRYNN: Dude, the guy is crazy for you!

*Gabrielle just stared at Brynn, stunned.*

GABRIELLE: What? Nick? No! We are just friends!

BRYNN: Oh, don't be naïve. He is totally in love with you.

GABRIELLE: Impossible. I just met him a few weeks ago. And I punched him in the face! There's no way he likes me.

BRYNN: *Giggling.* Love at first punch!

GABRIELLE: Hey, not funny! Paige, you see that she's being stupid, right? I mean, Nick and I are best friends, nothing more.

PAIGE: Well, I know that you see it like that, but I don't know if Nick does. Whenever I look over at him, he is staring at you and smiling.

GABRIELLE: Well maybe I am a funny person!

PAIGE: *Trying to change the subject for sake of Gabrielle's sanity, she says vaguely...* Maybe. [Distractedly.] Guys, do you think I should be going out with Jesse?

BRYNN: I...what? Where did that come from?

PAIGE: Well I told Kevin and he sorta flipped.

BRYNN: Why? Does he know that Jesse has cheated on you before?

PAIGE: *Feeling guilty, but secretly thinking that Kevin knew more about her problems with Jesse than Gabrielle and Brynn even did!* Um, yeah, I told him.

GABRIELLE: Paige, do you want the honest answer?

PAIGE: *Hesitantly.* Yes. I do.

GABRIELLE: I think whatever makes you happy, you should go for. I mean, I know it sounds cliché, but really. If you like Jesse, then who am I to tell you whether or not you should go out with him!

PAIGE: That's what Kevin said.

GABRIELLE: And he's absolutely right.
