One of Manitoba's most famous radio voices is returning to the air waves to call Manitoba Junior Hockey League games.
Curt Keilback, known as the voice of the Winnipeg Jets, returns to the microphone in his role as play-by-play man for NCI-FM.
NCI-FM and the MJHL are partnering up this year to bring a total of 10 games to the airwaves. Well known Winnipeg sportswriter/webwriter/radio commentator, Scott Taylor, will be handling colour duties in the booth with Keilback, who called Winnipeg Jets games on radio for more than two decades.
"NCI FM is excited about our involvement with the MJHL this year," said Mike Fabian, NCI-FM General Sales Manager.
"We believe that this is a perfect partnership between Manitoba's only provincial wide
radio network reaching over 140,000 daily listeners and the love affair
between the hockey communities that the MJHL and NCI FM serve.
"With the addition of Curt Keilback as our play-by-play announcer and Scott Taylor
adding the colour NCI-FM has definitely put together a broadcast team that
would rival any in the NHL and will be the premiere crew in all of Canadian
junior hockey," said Fabian.
"Manitoba's hockey fans deserve the best and NCI FM intends on growing our involvement with the teams, their communities and fans that we both serve."
The NCI-FM/MJHL broadcast games are listed below:
Thursday, September 23: OCN Blizzard at Winnipeg Saints
Friday, September 24: OCN Blizzard at Steinbach Pistons
Friday, October 22: OCN Blizzard at Winnipeg Saints
Friday, October 29: OCN Blizzard at Portage Terriers
Tuesday, November 16: Waywayseecappo Wolverines at Portage Terriers
Friday, December 3: OCN Blizzard at Winnipeg Blues
Thursday, December 30: Winnipeg Blues at Winnipeg Saints
Thursday, January 13: Portage Terriers at Winnipeg Saints at MTS Centre
Friday, January 14: OCN Blizzard at Selkirk Steelers
Tuesday, February 8: Winkler Flyers at Selkirk Steelers
"This is a win-win partnership for all parties concerned," said MJHL Commissioner Kim Davis. "It brings our fans closer to their favourite teams. Both Curt and Scott are extremely well respected and certainly will bring a professional-style broadcast to the fans."
Thats awesome.............just wish they could be doing more!

Like I've always said, you havent made it unless you've been introduced by Curt Keilback. Check it out, he throws to Scott Taylor. This is the first time I've ever seen a photo or video of him.
