What happens when you take something that's already on fire and THEN NUKE IT!?!?!??!?!? Watch to find out.

Anyone who took Chemistry class and witnessed the glowing hydrogen gas in a vacuum tube is familiar with this phenomena. When waves of electromagnetic energy strike an electron in a gas, they cause the electron to jump up to a higher molecular orbital than the one it was previously in. When the electron falls back down, it releases a photon of energy equal to the energy difference between the original energy level and the one it was ionized up to. What we are seeing is electrons in CO2 and CO gas (produced by the burning toothpick)jumping up to higher levels as they are struck by microwaves and falling back down, emitting electromagnetic waves that fall within the visible spectrum of light (hence, the glow). IT'S SCIENCE IN THE MICROWAVE!!! Somebody call Bill Nye.

  • You shouldnt do this in the house did you not hear about that 12 uyr old boy screename MICROWAVERZ, He burned down his apartment and his mother died in the fire because of microwaving shit inside the house! ATleast the Real microwave show, with Riley , Jon and Jory do it safely

  • @Riskteven Nobody likes roasted nuts...

  • @lolley1100 "THE MASKS! THEY DO NOTHING!"

  • it has to do with the fact that Fire is an intermediate form of matter, Flame that you see is Partially plasma, the Microwave is just taking the most excited matter ( the hot air from the flame) and exciting it further. Correct me if I'm wrong

  • Fowarding CassetteMaster, this is a win!

  • whoa!!!

  • it sounded like an alien was in there

  • Win! You made a microwave-powered light bulb! But microwaves can be very dangerous, so never be exposed to them!
