NORTH LAKE TAHOE BOASTS IDEAL HOLIDAY SKI CONDITIONS

STORY SUMMARY: (NORTH LAKE TAHOE, California/Nevada) The North Lake Tahoe region was hit with an Arctic blast that started Saturday and has left up to three feet of new snow, giving ski resorts the opportunity to crank up more lifts and open more terrain in time for holiday skiers.

Holiday skiers and boarders are enjoying some of the best conditions of the winter, with up to three feet of new snow reported at the ski resorts higher elevations and some of the most terrain and lifts open anywhere on the West Coast. And the conditions are only getting better as another storm is headed for the region later this week.

Snow enthusiasts to North Lake Tahoe have their pick of ski resorts with Boreal Mountain Resort, Northstar-at-Tahoe, Sugar Bowl and Mt. Rose open top to bottom, Tahoe Cross Country Ski Area and Tahoe Donner Cross Country, along with Squaw Valley USAs lower and upper mountain. Opening today, December 18 are Diamond Peak and Tahoe Donner Downhill. Alpine Meadows re-opens top-to-bottom December 19, along with countrys largest cross country resort Royal Gorge Cross Country, and Granlibakken Resort with beginner lifts and sledding. Soda Springs is scheduled to open December 20, and Homewoood Mountain Resort on Dec 24.

After hitting the slopes, head to North Lake Tahoes casino stages and jazz lounges for live music and some of the best après-ski nightlife. Local favorites are the Crystal Bay Club & Casino in Crystal Bay and Moodys Bistro & Lounge in Truckee, where Sir Paul McCartney recently put on an impromptu jam with local musicians. Or, give lady luck a try at the craps and blackjack tables at casinos in the historic Crystal Bay corridor or the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe in Incline Village.

Holiday events abound too, including Christmas carolers in the villages, torchlight parades on the mountain and Santa arriving by fire truck to hand out candy canes to kids.
