Mattie Moss Clark still remains the source of inspiration for many musicians and choir directors. She is, with no doubt, STILL, one of the MOST LOVED icons in Gospel music, especially in the COGIC.

The Bible says to train your children up in the way they should go, so that when they get older, they won't depart from it. I know that Mattie Moss Clark is very proud of her children (and grandchildren), The Clark Sisters (Kiki Sheard), for keeping her legacy alive.

When people heard that I was doing a tribute to Mattie Moss Clark, they immediately began to request songs. While I do plan to do a couple more for her later on, I wanted to share one of my personal favorites that Mattie recorded with the Southwest Michigan State choir. It's titled "He Delivered Me."

  • OMG you can hear DORINDA in Mattie's voice lol god bless the clark family!!!

  • Actually not acually.lol

  • Acually the bass you can hear play is a double bass. The organist would likely be Ronnie Kelsey.

  • who ever is playing that organ has a hateful foot on that bass pedal

  • the Ward singer was the firs gruop to recieve a gold record,(surely God is able) Mahalia was the first million seller in 1947(move on up a liittle higer) Roberta also got a gold record, Dr clark was the first chior director to have a gold record in 1958(i,m on my way to heaven) surley God is able & move on up were written by rev W.H Brewster.

  • you are right.

  • thanks

  • I believe she was the first person with a CHOIR to earn gold records. Not the first gospel singer. Dr. Clark wasn't known for her solo work, she's know for her ability to work with choirs.
