Spithill!! Natural born sailor.

@maicaw113: The new format of shorter, faster races is what's needed to make this event mainstream. It was a curiosity to the world and only made headlines in the NY Times. The new format of fast heats, and even faster catamarans will make this next cup a thrill to watch, much like it was in 1987 down in Australia. Give Coutts and Oracle credit for rescuing the event from obscurity.

what is the name of the final song?

A race is about faster. This isn't a beauty pageant.

Protest my foot. They will be a bunch of sore losers for doing that.

How about shortening up those marks? This to me was a drag race, throw in twice as many tacks & gybes and see how it pans out....
Beautiful boats though...

Would be nice to see monohulls again in the competition.
This Americas cup was absolutely disgusting. My grandmother could have skippered Oracle and still have won (sorry Spithill but it was the boat, not you who won this). What the point of having it so outrageously expensive that no one can afford to enter? Then having the regatta so far out from the coast on one can see it.
The current AC42 Americas cup is exactly what is needed to bring the cup back to the world and promote sailing.

@TinMahn, driving a boat like that is actually a very very difficult and demanding task, and Spithill (along with the main trimmer) was outstanding, as evidenced by how poorly the other boat did by comparison -- just look at how well each boat is flying hulls in the video. Another critical factor was the brilliant tactics of John Kostecki.
As for the AC45, crowd response thus far has been underwhelming -- the recent event in San Diego fell far short of expectations.

"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder", and much as I also like monohulls, these multihulls are quite beautiful to me!
