@thedreadedzero The solution would be to use acrylic yarn and NOT wool yarn. (Wool matts up while acrylic doesn't.) There shouldn't be a problem washing it if you make the switch.

You really have a nice voice :D

@thedreadedzero : Not denouncing your method, just adding my method: I tie the yarn around the base of the hair reeeeeally tightly - I discovered I have no rubber bands in the house :P Then I braid tightly and it stays, then I add more yarn through the base and braid more...

hey zero quick question, what size rubber bands to you use?

Its not really, I've done this before. I'm sure you've seen women with hair braided into their hair, its the same thing. There are some other tutorials on youtube that show you how to do this. But do what works best for you.

i want to do dark red dreads ..i have a hawk so i think it'll look cool..
This is really more complicated than it needs to be. You don't need a rubber band, just start braiding the yarn directly into your hair.

Without the rubber bands, the yarn is too loose and it comes out when you pull on it, making it impossible to start the braid.

I've been curious as to how you'd wash your hair with the yarn in, so could you help me out on this one?

Getting it wet ruins it and makes it smell pretty bad. I would fold mine up into a ball on the top of my head and put a large showercap on.
