He wrote an op-ed in the Boston Globe saying that he had switched to pro-life just months into his term. He was never pro-gay and publicly stated his dismay over the courts overturning the gay marriage ban. You are making him out to be far more liberal than he truly is.

I agree that Romney downplayed his skills to relate to average Americans and in the process messed up his presidential bid. You have it wrong when you say Mitt Romney was pro-choice and pro-gay rights. Romney always stated that he was personally pro-life, but would protect a woman's right to choose. Once he got in office he never signed a single pro-choice bill.
