Skerik @ Howlin' Wolf 05-04-07

Skerik soloing with DJ Logic, Leo Nocentelli (guitar), Marco Benevento (Keys), Russell Batiste (drums), and I don't know the bassist's name. This was a late night set following the MMW set at the Howlin' Wolf on 5-3-07. My camera was directly above his monitor, so there is a little problem with the audio-video synch due to the acoustic sound and effects coming out of the monitor.

were you at the claypool show last night? if so, what were your thoughts on that set? i thought it was the weakest show i've seen him play. secret chiefs 3 totally blew them out of the water.

skerik and claypool are two of my favorite musicians, but they put on a lackluster show that night. i've seen them both several times, and they are usually awesome. les just seemed really unenthused that night. sc3 happened to be on fire.

agreed. i got to see orange tulip conspiracy a couple months ago as well. jason schimmel is a musical genius. not only is he a great improvisational jazz guitarist, but plays and blends several other styles extremely well from metal to gypsy. he wrote the whole OTC album himself. definitely worth checking out.

that's sweet, i tried downloading that album, but it only gave me one song, which was a pretty good one. but i've looked into jason a bit, and i agree completely. definitely brilliant. you should check out Time Lapse Consortium. it's a project by the guitarist of incubus, but don't let this scare you, it's nothing like their new stuff.
