  • I was here from 68-69, strange feeling seeing the place again, it was quite an experience.

  • I was stationed there in 64-65 some of your pics bring back memories. Nice work.

  • A very good video. I was stationed there in 69-70. I was in charge of the Boiler plant and had some interesting times. I have posted my video here also. Look at the Cape Lisburne 1969-1970. I converted some of my slides to digital. It's amazing how this place has changed. Must be a care taker facility now. I guess the it's not used for any military value any more since the coast of Russia was only 50 miles away and could be seen clearly on a good day from Top camp.

    Sgt. Arthur Wayland.

  • Great video was there from 11/73 to 11/74. I was 18.

  • Now those of us that were stationed there can prove what it was like for those bush and military pilots to land and take off from that strip. I was there when the AF brought in a group of construction workers to "shore up" the runway by blowing up some of the mountain to resurface and place more foundations along the Sea to keep the runway from washing away. Plus does anyone recall the Mona Lisa barges that came offshore? Would love to hear more about our '63' 64' folks.

  • This brought back lots of "cold" memories, but not necessarily bad ones. I was stationed there in 66/67. It was fun tobogganing and looking south to see the Northern Lights! The "quality" movies were always fun. Mustered out in 68, have been farming apples for the last 30 years. Thanks for the video.

  • This is really GREAT! stationed there in 66/67. We had some great times even if we were in the middle of nowhere. Playing in the mud, wking with leather and finishing up a slotcar track. No plane when winds were above 10 kts. unless the platasporta fm Kotze would land. Remember great friend, Lt Ennis, Doc Malard, Lima Lima, and many others. the guys trying to teach me pinnocle and getting into arguments so I just watched. was a bksgt then w/no idea 2 b lifer. retired a MSgt. Ed Parkinson

  • Wow, memories are brought back looking at this video, even though it has been 45 years since I spent a year there. I don't think many people could relate to that experience unless they were there for a year and back then there were no TV, videos, PC or cell phones.

I was 19 at the time but remembering all the guys trying to cope with the conditions and isolation seems just like a few years ago. Thanks for taking the time to film and post your video.

  • Wow, I can't believe what you find on You Tube, this place, Cape Lisburne, is where I spent an entire year when I was 19 in 1964. No tv, women, town, just work, some men went almost crazy, lucky for everyone there were no women stationed there, sort of like being on a navy sub except you could go for a walk as long as you carried a rifle to protect you from the polar and grizzly bears.

  • The best view in that video was the shot of the plane leaving. Thanks for a visual that allows my flatland friends to begin comprehension of the edge of hell....
