It's Now WRDC-TV

I remember this too as WPTF-TV 28 which was the NBC affilate here in the Triangle. There programming consisted of "Super Password","Wheel of Fortune","Classic Concentration","To Tell The Truth","The PTL Club","The Channel 28 Afternoon Movie",and
at one time "Regis and Kathie Lee",not to mention a LOT of classic TV shows!!! The news department by the way sucked...since there were only Hap Hansen and Valerie Holly Dennis as the anchors.

IIRC, it's also MyRDC.

What, no soaps?

Kinda looks like a Gay Pride 28. LOL!

My gosh...I don't recognize that ID at all. However, I do remember 28 as an NBC affiliate. That's where I always used to watch "Super Password," "Wheel of Fortune," and "Classic Concentration."

Ha. I worked there from 1981-1993. This particular campaign was a "fly in" logo. It was an attempt to self-promote the station, which was UHF and getting on to more cable systems in NC. Let's face it, even with NBC's line-up, we were outgunned by VHF powerhouses WRAL and WTVD. I think "sucked' is rather strong language to describe 2 really nice people, by the way.

@tonyvideo2000 Thanks for the info. It's always great to hear from people "in the know."

I vaguely remember this ID myself, although I grew up watching Eastern North Carolina TV stations. I gotta say that it's the strangest-looking 28 that I have ever seen.

It didn't last. It was gone by 1988. I have at least one more promo featuring the curvy 28 (but not rainbow-colored) that will be posted in the near future; hopefully before the end of the year I'll have more goodies.
