This video demonstrates 4 different cut kicks which can be used to counter attack your opponents support leg during their rear leg mid level roundhouse kick attack. The cut kick is used to sweep, off balance or dislocate the support leg depending on the angle of the strike.
The inside leg cut kick is targeted towards the knee or ankle whilst stepping offline to generate power in an attempt to sweep your opponent or buckle their base.
The outside leg cut kick is targeted to the outside of your opponents thigh in a downward chopping motion whilst blocking into and reducing the power of your opponents kick.
The lead side kick cut kick is targeted through your opponents knee when they have pivoted allowing for a clean break as there is no bend in the knee.
The flick front kick cut kick is targeted to the knee during the pivot and should slice across the front of the knee cap causing a large amount of pain and damage.
The key to cut kicking is timing, do not wait until you have been hit to strike back, as soon as you see your opponent initiate the mid level round house kick you should throw your counter strike and make sure yours lands first.
