Part 1 of 3 on how to get a simple, flat, transparent texture into Bobs Track Builder, a utility for creating tracks for the PC games rFactor and Richard Burns Rally.

This first part covers work in Adobe Photoshop, including alpha channel and DDS export.

And I'm no expert, so some terminology might be wrong!

One point to note, I do say the image needs to be square; that's not true of course. It's just that the height and width must be to a power of 2 in pixels (ie. 2,4,8,16,32,64,128,256,512 pixels and so on), but width and height don't have to be the same.

  • thank you!

  • oh ok, I solved it.. I didn't flatten image that was the problem.

  • When I try to export it gives me error "to many channels to export (5)" but 5 channels is exactly how many you have too...

  • nice tutorial
