Some people may have questions on how this can actually save a life, or how their children would understand that their mother was going silent on the one day dedicated to them. And the answer is simple - whether you chose to participate or not, our hope is that this campaign would create a national conversation and together bring maternal health to the forefront our people’s minds.

Silence solves nothing. Lets bring awareness is a bunch of crock. The world is survival of the fittest. Plus people should be adopting kids since we have to many in orphanages. Don't have a child till you do your research its called abstinence. Instead of being silent and expecting others to carry your cause why don't you go to college an keep this from happening. If you wanna change the world go to school. Not sit an be quiet an expect the world to listen.

Instead of "disappearing" to promote a call for awareness, why not urge your children and loved ones to make donations in place of giving you a Mother's Day gift and using your voice to promote the issue (instead of keeping silent)? Mother's Day is a day for everyone to stop and take time to show their appreciation of the struggles of motherhood...why deprive your children of that?

I'm really quit confused by the comments that act like this is some attack on mother's day, did you know that the US, one of the most industrial countries in the world, ranks number 31 on healthcare and treatment of mothers/children? If you think that Mother's Day is truly the only day that mothers are appreciate is wrong, it's a commercial holiday and nothing more, why don't you show your mom how much you appreciate her more then once a year?

'Awareness' is air.......it's warm fuzzies that get nothing done. Send medical equipment to India, the country with the highest rate of maternal death. THAT'S doing something. This is no different than posting your bra color on Facebook to "raise awareness" of breast cancer...
