It looks like a good computer but I always have issues with Windows at school. I been to school in USA, Ireland and Australia and have never had the opportunity to bring my own computer to class. It's a good idea but the education systems around the world just aren't right for this to be a success.
I think it's a great pc, i would have loved to have one in my skool as a kid. Either way you should get an SSD so it won't crash again, and you can do an unboxing, review, and a how-to install an SSD into a 24 inch imac. Every cloud has a silver lining :D
besides, if you get an SSD, the installation of OS X should go by more painlessly.

Looks pretty cool. And as far as practicality at price, I would claim that it's more useful than an iPad :)
Good luck with your hard drive Dave, I know how much it can be (I had 1TB fail on me last year but had a backup :D) 750G is a lot, so don't give up!!
