to be preffectly honest with you i use a turkey diaphram call or and elk diaphram call, it can be minipulated to make many differnt sounds especially distress sounds. i might put up a quick video of this in the near future. but wayne carlton calls and primos are my favorite.

I got a bear cub distress call recently and I'm not sure how to use it. It's a Knight and Hale cub distress call. Do you have any suggestions?

@darkvirus37 well in my very short experience with cub distress call is it usually brings in sows with cubs so i don’t use it. Because it is not ethical or legal in most states to shoot a sow with cubs. however if you use it during mating season it will often bring in aggressive males seeking to kill cubs to force sows into heat. In any event pretty much the same as any call find good bear sign or spot a bear first before you use it and keep calling until they are in range. Hope that helps

It use to be legal to bait in Washington state. Then the mostly city dwelling majority in the state voted to make it illegal. Wasn't fair don't you know.

Now these same Friends of the Pussy Willows are crying out and gnashing there teeth because bears and mountain lions are showing up in their backyards.

Outlawing this method of hunting has resulted in an increase in the bear and cougar population. But there isn't enough wild land to handle the increase. They have to go somewhere.

Bear baiting is legal in about half the states that have huntable populations of bear. Two more states have added baiting int he past few years. So he is wrong. Period.
