He was fired because there was tension between him and Dean. Something happened during sausagefest( I think that what it was), and Dean went nuts. Basically he put an ultimatum either Jason gets fired or Dean quits. So they bought Jason out.
Shame really, now it is just 2 pricks on the show with no one to balance them out. The show is still funny, but definitely lacks something.

They felt he wasn't necessary to meet the shows target audience. So they canned him.
