The Big Buddha Calligraphy exhibition of 100 Calligraphers took place at Miao-tsin Temple(妙心寺)from 20th July to 17th August of 2008, Tainan, Taiwan. The calligraphy display was sponsored by Taiwan Chuan Chin Literature Research Studio [雙清文獻學會] and co-sponsored by Chung-hua Buddhism Literature Foundation and Miao-tsin Temple. There were also a series of activities for this event, such as: display of collection from 100 calligraphers work, opening ceremony, calligraphy demonstration and new book announcement.
Mr. Chen Chin-chien(陳進乾), founder of Taiwan Chuan Chin Literature Research Studio, had prepared for years. He visited temples and shrines in famous mountains across Taiwan Strait and invited well-known calligraphers from both Taiwan area and Chinese mainland.
The very first Big Buddha Calligraphy exhibition attended from different religious believers is a historic witness with broadly artistic mind. The style of strokes used by the calligraphers ranges from seal character, Han Dynasty character, regular script, running hand style to cursive style.
