@CanadianMapleLeaf01 But we are not here at an video about politics, I'm also very amazed by this tower, I was just today at the Alexanderplatz and Weltzeituhr. They built a very good tower which resisted every heavy wind and they bring entertainment and information to everyone who needs them and they are an upgrade for every region, because tourists want to see the place from a higher place.

@minipo48 The palace of the republic (Erichs Lampenladen) wasn't used because
a) The Berliner Stadtschloss was in it's place until 1958 and demolished by the GDR.
b) It would have been useful, when there wasn't that much asbestos to isolate. (Asbestos was used in West and East Germany until the 70s. Asbestos is known to cause cancer and the only cure is to renovate the buildings. I want to remind that the GDR was a regime, a very brutal. A government which builds a cage around their own people..

I remember going up to the top and looking over not long after it opened in 69,its marvellous it was kept and not demolished like the Palace of the Republik!!!i was sad to see it go, a pity it could not have been re utilised??

Innen im Turm gibt es Treppen. Aus jeder Höhe ist ein Ausstieg möglich!
