I agree - this is an awesome clip. Being one of many Lucille Ball fans, I watched this the night it was aired. CBS, Sunday evening, December 9, 1984. Lucy was the 1984 honoree of the Variety Clubs International, and hosted by Monty Hall. They dedicated the Lucille Ball wing of the Barbara Davis Juvenile Diabetes Hospital in Denver. Lucy was very moved. This gala event was taped about three weeks before and they ended the TV special by them all singing Happy Anniversary to Lucy and Gary (Morton).

What a powerful and moving speech! I noticed that the people were moved by Sammy's speech, but not moved to tears. It's seems more touching and sad for people now, knowing that she's no longer with us...it made me cry. Thank you so much for sharing this.
