@bob89797 Oh, no, I think Christy has a very interesting voice. I like it a lot for some of the songs she sang. But I don't feel that it is necessarily the best for the group all the time. Sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't, and when it say a "strong" lead I mean more or less a lead vocal that slides along with the song as smoothly as those wonderful layers the group is creating. I feel that the lead vocals in some of AB's performances don't mesh like they should. That's what I meant.

@lionroar224 What's funny is Christy has won several national awards for Jazz Vocals...I know you're entitled to your opinion musically but to call her weak would be innacurate. Jazz isn't about diva-ing everything especially in this musical context. Jennifer Hudson wouldn't mesh with this group very well in this a cappella forum. So when you're critiquing try to keep everything in mind instead of saying "she's weak"

You know, I really REALLY did NOT LIKE Afro Blue... but I forced myself to listen to them over and over again to try and figure out what people liked about them. If you remove the lead vocals I realized there was something really beautiful in the textures of the other voices. But I feel that the thing that really needs to be strong--the lead--is always too weak with them. That's why I never connected with their music :\ I wish they had a great lead singer because I think I could like them then.

@raymondjackso25 I think Ben Folds comments on that stuff because most of what Afro Blue does goes over the head of people who don't study classical music. Like me o,o

You can really see the passion in their faces when they sing!

Is Ben raciest? Or wht?

@prettylittleliar0851 you're right Pentatonix is lightyears not miles ahead of Afro-Blue

Just touched the soul right there.
It will be a shame if they don't win this competition. Ben Folds is making people think they suck because he criticizes on stuff that only person w/ a music doctorate would pick up on. The fact that they were in the bottom 2 after this performance is flat out retarded. They should win, but if Pentatonix wins....I'm cool with that.

how nice to see a group just take the genre and run with it. jazz is so far from country but they did it justice without changing it so much to fit what they do, shows that they do have versatility. There is an honesty to country music that they latched on to and showed very well.
