@bellybroom My guess is that it is just a reflection, probably from the same source as the one that's causing the wide 'white line' glare at the bottom right of the disc. As the record is rotating on the turtable the imperfections on the surface are being raised and lowered reflecting the light at slightly different spots.
Now, about the jazz and trumpet - magnificent! One of my all-time favorite tunes regardless of musical genre.

Is the vocalist Fletcher Henderson? The singer/arranger with Axel Stordahl and Tommy Dorsey. Sinatra stole Axel when he went solo and Fletch may have gone with the Duke

Was this recorded on a 12 inch record? Most records of that era didn't last 5 minutes. That being said, I have this on an old 45 I love the recording and have been so rapped up in it that after all these years I am just finding out now that the song last almost 5 minutes

Fans of Bunny Berigan will be interested in a recent commentary about "I Can't Get Started" by Dean Robbins, originally broadcast on Wisconsin Life, a show produced by Wisconsin Public Radio. To find it, Google "Wisconsin Life" Bunny Berigan.

@bellybroom yeah yep, all if OK bud.... it is a reflection from the overhead light --- if you could only know how many in-corrections I typed over to get to this explanation -- I just polished off a Mickeys40 hahaha
I just want also to say... back in HS there was this guy, we were both seniors, he used to play this song, and I just could NOT place the song nor the horn player, he was a highly competitive sort and I was not -- It was THIS song, and it was Bunny Berigan. So beautiful.

@AllBobsAllTheTime No argument from me on that score.

@MOGGS1942 I think Louis proclaimed this to be the greatest recording ever - and he may very well be right!

Can you please tell us what the brand and model is of the record player? Thanks:)

Great recording, great performance, great musician.
A new biography of Bunny Berigan has appeared: "Mr. Trumpet--the Trials, Tribulations and Triumph of Bunny Berigan, by Michael P. Zirpolo.

Hey I'm no expert on capturing vinyl to digital, but I think you did a great job with this. Sounds better than any youtube alternatives, by far :) Just for searching for this specific track/record/etc.

yes but is that a ceremic cartridge? or did you get a rare moving coil usb turtable?
velvetree 1 year ago
@velvetree Still no offense right? ;) No, it's not ceramic, or course. I'll look up what you're talking about. Thanks for the heads up. Good thing I don't play these often.

just to let you know, that type of needle is ruining the 78. I'm young and didn't know it either untill last year, i bought the same record recorder..... you have to go oldschool to preserve that record for other generations.... look up magnetic coils and so forth to get the best use of the sound avi without damage to record////just fyi no offence

@velvetree The needle I'm using is specially for 78 RPM records.
