U.S. Cellular is launching its latest spot in the Believe in Something Better campaign today. For the spot, Riney tapped avante-garde artist, Diem Chau, and her highly lauded Storytelling Crayons work. Using a range of Chau's carved Crayon people, the Riney team melted them down and then played it in reverse using in-camera special effects to demonstrate that, no matter what happens to your phone, your numbers (and connections) will stay just how you imagined them.

  • That was a great commercial!

  • Omg. I am SO gonna try that at home.

  • That was pretty great.

  • Has anyone ever seen it in HD? WOW!

  • I'm almost for sure that the girl talking in the commercial is the girl in napoleon dynamite. listen to the whole thing and at some parts you can really tell.

  • yes. in thinking further - at least people got to SEE the art, even if it was easily dismissed as a commercial. Beauty can stand on it's own, despite the desire to monetize it.

  • I agree on some levels. This concept could really be used for something very powerful and moving dealing with people and communities and making the world a better place.

Still, original and different gets points regardless of who paid for it.

  • Diem Chau rocks. Sweet melt in reverse.
