@MelinaPendulum: i cant agree with you more on that one

I honestly thought se was trying to critique the naivety of a high school girl but she isn't. She(Meyer) is a complete idiot. Everything in Twilight is on Edward's terms. He calls her beautiful but she thinks she's plain. He wants her blood nothing more. She's like an experiment for him. He finds a scent that has attracted him and he is trying his hardest not to devour it. Its like putting a crackhead in front of the most potent crack rock ever made. That rock can't leave the table. Bella=victim

@MelinaPendulum yep...women's rights even men's rights has to do with how good looking the guy or girl is. In other words, if said man or woman is gorgeous, stalking, abuse is permissible...if said man or woman is very ugly, then he or she would be put in jail! It's about good looks versus ugliness...simple!

@fromthisgirl Woops, I meant comprehensive reading* skills. I find that a lot of the fans are new readers, and although you're supposed to learn comprehensive reading in school, I think you develop the skill moreso just by being a reader, so that just comes right back around to point out that a lot of the fans aren't readers.

I think the exact issue with the fans is that they lack comprehensive reason skills, it's in the majority from what I can tell. Most haters hate the books because they CAN see the underlying issues, and because they can think past Bella's opinions- such as being okay with the stalking. If the fan reads that Bella likes it, then the fan deems it acceptable, while the rest of us know that Bella liking it means diddly squat when it comes to determining how wrong it is.

The thing with Twilight is: the story is not too bad. It's just like every other story. But where it lets itself down is in every other possible aspect! I've never read such a load in my life!
The characters suck. It's horribly written. And vampires are meant to be awesome killing-machines, not sparkly, abusive bastards!
You're very right. Thank you.

That is so true!

Edward's relationship with Bella is psychologically damaging. My former friend saw this an ideal relationship -- I still say that it was creepy. Like if you don't see the person you must hunt them down and get them to do stuff that is not normal.

No, trust me, you're not the only one who feels that way. I got stalked by my ex-bf, and it was frikken creepy!! =O.O= I don't want someone I don't know....or even someone I DO know peeping in at me while I'm sleeping! Except my hubby, but he's been with me for 15 years. X3
If Edward was butt-ugly, no one would want him stalking them!

my point exactly!

Mahe, I think people rant about how bad the relationship is because a lot of other people don't realize it. It's not acceptable behavior, and a lot of girls now think that it is. Now, don't get me wrong, I absolutely love Twilight. New Moon was possibly my favorite. Edward wasn't there and there was plenty of Jacob. (Eclipse was also awesome.)

sariahsue, thank you for making a mature, rational comment even though you still like the books. it is completely possible to have thoughtful discussion and debate when people disagree on something instead of attacking each other. so thank you :)
and you're absolutely right about most girls not realizing the true nature of edward's behavior. as i said, stalking is not an acceptable way to begin a relationship, but so many people- girls -will defend it.
