@biginpittsburgh "Every generation thinks that "their music" was "the music" and everybody else's music sucked." I don't think that's accurate at all. Why do people love the old blues songs if that's the case? Or old jazz? Why does my 21-year-old daughter love the operas that Maria Callas loved as a child? Why do birds suddenly appear, every time you are near?

@lilsheckler1 Where'd I say they weren't popular? That was actually kinda my point.
-
@BarackSays the Beatles were popular right away.... where do you get your info? they're the most popular band in the world to this date
-
Thank you Guitar Hero

@lilsheckler1 Obviously mainstream music is but people have always felt that way about mainstream music, in the 60s everyone was bitching about The Beatles like they were some little bitch boy band and Elvis like he was Bieber. Time and perspective can change a LOT of opinions.

@BarackSays actually its been quite a big disappointment recently

@bennydabair You're cherry picking dumb music, every decade has great music.
-
@bennydabair just to add I was pissed when I heard that farce by Kid Suck because I thought it was Warren Zevon I was about ready to sing along then I hear some dumb ass shit. This stealing old rock tunes needs to be outlawed

@biginpittsburgh I didn't say my music was "the music" Nor did I say everything else sucked. I simply referenced to the 80's as being pure music and not copy cats that take an old song and put a rap beat or twist it a little bit. Ex. Kid Rock's summertime song or whatever its called. That was orignally Warren Zevon's "Wearwolves in London" There is some good music out today but most is rap music that repeats lyrics over and over and over till it gets stuck in your head. That music does SUCK.

Thrills and benny--Every generation thinks that "their music" was "the music" and everybody else's music sucked. Much of early hip hop was about partying, getting girls and having fun. On the other hand, there was some pretty dark rock and roll that came along after the "good" rock of the late 60s, 70s and 80s. Lyrics about satanism, rape, torture, mutilation...crap musicians. I enjoy that good rock, good hip hop, jazz, soul, etc. If there's crap on the radio, don't bitch...turn it off.
The 80's was the last decade of pure music. Not copy cats taking old songs and putting a stupid rap beat to it. Man I cringe when I hear the crap they play on the radio these days.
