I took my son to the DMV this week to apply for his free Voter ID card.

Since when does a bank account have anything to do with voting?

Some ppl dont understand that every1 doesnt live in their world

We've counties in Texas that are mostly ranch land - there may be a total of only 75 people in a county, 25 of whom may be voters, most of whom dont have DLs as there is no license dept nearby & who may ride into vote on horseback & most of whom were delivered by midwives as there are no hospitals in the county

    But everybody knows everybody.

IF SUCH A PERSON HAS BEEN ON THE VOTING ROLL FOR 40 YRS - LET THE PERSON VOTE!

Honestly, there's a lot of whining going on If someone does not have to provide proof that they are a real person, then what's to stop someone from registering to vote multiple times without proving who they are? Do people not understand that this is something that has probably been abused MULTIPLE times?

Also, the Bank statement an invasion of privacy? YOU PROVIDED THEM WITH IT! If you do not want to use a bank statement, then get another piece of mail (or just use the envelope).

Since the republicans and the rich and powerful decided that it does. Don't you know that the rich and powerful run America? A lot of people think it is Obama that is governing but you'd be sadly mistaken. The republicans have been able to thwart Obama for the most part on issues that would greatly benefit Americans.

Voter ID = Poll tax. There's no way to get around it. Even if they're "free", there's the opportunity cost, standard economics 101. The time you spend going to the DMV is time you could have spent working at a job. Thus the phrase time is money. Not to mention gas to get to the DMV to begin with.

Why should voters prove they are eligible to be considered as voting U.S. citizens when the U.S. President is NOT eligeble to be an eligeble voting U.S. citizen let alone let alone President?

Since when do you have to have constant activity in your bank account to qualify it as legitimate voter ID? That's ridiculous
