The 1979 season was for Louis Hutzezon in his Ford Escort RS2000. The race were combined with the above 2000 class, in which the Chevrolet Camaro ruled with their enormous engines. Nevertheless the Ford Escort could often keep up thanks to very late braking and higher cornering speed.
