Never give up the passports to anyone when traveling! Especially not hotel people - no one, actually. A copying scam is right! You likely would never get them returned. Also the "Let's Go" (my fav) and "Rough Guide" (my next fav) series of travel books are ideal for the average backpacking traveler (only need one of them for the areas your visiting). I'd be surprised if either of them did not have books for India. **Everything** we need to know is in there....Awesome that you're traveling!

Yeah the bucket is the shower and bath combo.
You fill it up and then you use the small container to pour water over you simple
Glad to be of service XD

Even though the hotel room is a setback, look at it like this: You're in India. Not many people go traveling overseas (honestly, the furthest out of Florida I've been is to Washington. But I got to see some cool things there). So, you are experiencing what so few have dreamed to do. Hope your trip continues to go smooth. :D

haha, wooow that hotel looked disgusting. If I were there i would've been all "uhhhhhh, i'm sleeping here?"
and I agree, wtf was all that stuff in the washroom? Anyways, I hope youse guys are having a blast in India, can't wait to hear all about it when you get back. Mom and Dad are definitely curious about it too, lol.

I enjoy watching your hybrid trip through India. Very down to earth and almost gritty. My wife and I are both Indian. We were mostly brought up in the U.S. and have been back for a short trip to India in 2001 in which we did the "Golden Triangle" and then Madras. We will be heading back for another short trip (2 wks). The 1st week will be spent around New Delhi. The last week is open for travel. I want Darjeeling and experience the toy trains. She wants Tamil Nadu again. What say you...
