Another reasonably good day for me, though nowhere near as productive as yesterday. Yesterday was my record, in terms of words written in one day. But still, yay for progress!

Excerpt time:

----

"You are hurt." It was not a question.

"Yes." Cole saw no use in denying the obvious. That deep breath had pulled in with it the dust and the musk of wolfen wildness but also blood. His own blood. It was not a strong scent, but he remembered losing his sword, the vampire's blade biting into his arm and freeing his grip. That was not what concerned him. It was the damage beneath the surface that truly worried him, the blunt-force injury that brought with it sharp, sweeping pain whenever he tried to breathe or move. His left arm tingled strangely. His shoulder felt numb.

"They brought you in last," Sofia told him, turning his gaze in her direction again. "They said—" Cutting herself off, she lifted one hand from where it had been laid against Felipe's still shoulder and pushed hair back from her face. "They said there was no more room. So they left you on the floor. One of them laughed and said—" She sucked in a deep breath, and as it rose back out again, she went on, "They said you were not a threat, not after what 'she' had done."

Cole had not realised at the time that the injury had been intended to incapacitate. The vampire had had no intention of killing him. The taste intensified as her hushed words chased back through his mind like ghostly fingers of fog. An aching, empty sensation swallowed his gut. His new deep breath pulled in with it the clogging staleness of decay and old blood.

Vampires. The coven.

Turning his head and searching the ceiling, his eyes came to a stop on a narrow shaft that allowed only the smallest sliver of air and dim light through from beyond.

They were in the cellar of the mansion.

----

Things don't look good! But fear not, I have a plan. Plans? We'll just say "a plan" for now. Tomorrow's update will be pre-work so I'm not sure how successful I will be in terms of novelling. But like I say in the video, make sure to reward yourselves for any and all progress. Incentives can work wonders :D Until tomorrow! HEARTS!

  • Hey, you! <3 I wondered where you'd gotten to. I did notice your word count creeping up on the page, though, so I knew you were around. Still, glad to hear from you! I hope you can make some more progress in the coming days, and I look forward to hearing from you again :D

  • Dear Clez,

Congratulation on your progress of over 42,000 words! I am kinda behind at 20,845 words. Haven't made a video in a week. But still excited about participating.
