@GamersDaily Well that's why I play games. For example Bioshock. It did nothing new, nothing innovative. In reality it's plasmid system was more of a gimmick magic system, and it's combat was an old school shooter. But it's the story is why I keep coming back to Rapture. Sure, it's fun to do random, pointless things.
You enjoy playing Uncharted, no? Well Mafia 2 is like Uncharted, only set in a sprawling city. There's no side missions, just the story. 100% constant focus on the story.

Mafia 1was in development since 1998, but was constantly delayed. I think perhaps you should try Mafia 1 again. May I ask how far you reached? Because in the begining the story lags, but once it get's to the middle it really kicks it into high gear. An the ending is considered one of the best endings in gaming history. You say it does nothing different. But what about the realism, the driving, I mean you only played it on arcade mode, once you play sim mode the cars are GT like

What? If you need a good waste time? LOL :-D
Sorry, but it's like you were comparing The Godfather movie to a good waste time.
This game is basically and primary about the story.

First!
No offence but before you do a preview of a game you might want to do your research beforehand. Mafia 1 was developed earlier than GTA 3 and is considered one of the best 50 PC games of all times. It was a revolutionary game with it's Oscar worthy story, and it's authentic realism. Mafia 2 is not your "run of the mill" 3rd person shooter, but if you knew ANYTHING about Mafia 1 you would know that. You would also know that it's a linear game, more akin to Alan Wake or Uncharted 2 than GTA.

@NeonSkyTimeRadio I don't know about development, but GTA III was released almost a full year before Mafia. I did play Mafia and I remember being, and boy is this going to cause backlash, bored. Don't freak out, just my opinion...
Either way, this is footage of what we were given to play. We weren't given a whole lot of the story so we can't speak to that. All we can judge is the gameplay in the demo, and it was ok. Nothing you haven't already seen now hundreds of times before in similar games.

@NeonSkyTimeRadio That being said, if you liked the first one, then yes, you'll most likely enjoy the second one. If you are really into the story and that's all you want out of the game, then by all means, this is for you.
