(I didn't think it needed to be said, but apparently, some people think this is a true story, that I somehow met and began a relationship with a beautiful geek girl, videotaped it, found out she didn't like Firefly, broke up with her, videotaped that, wrote a song about it, got her to lip-synch to it, and put the video online... The events depicted in this video are fictional. There.)

I'm glad she likes Firefly. That's awesome. But the movie came out on DVD in 2005. It's not a spoiler anymore.

If you're going to show fan-made content to someone who hasn't seen all the show yet, maybe it's a good idea to watch it first to make sure there aren't any spoilers. Most of these things are for those us who are very familiar with Firefly and Serenity. Almost every fan-made song/video/comic/etc. has some sort of spoiler in it. It's just common sense for you to vet these things first if you're going to show them to someone who's yet to see it all.

The examples you give aren't the same at all - they're all major films that most of the population have seen, and all of them are highly referenced and discussed pop culture references. Firefly is a lot more niche; it has a great following, but is no where near the awareness that a film like Star Wars has.

You spoiled a massive, massive part of the film with no warning, on a film that not many people have seen. Put a warning up :(
