  • Johnny was indeed a great singer - I recorded him a number of times when I owned a recording company. However if you ever get the chance to hear Kimber's Men (you can find them on You Tube) you will hear the voice of John Bromley. His is deeper, indeed trained for opera. Find him singing 'Old Man River' on You Tube.

  • I came accross Johnny by chance, not having much interest in folk.

    Luckily I live near Harrow and I got the chance over the last 7 or 8 years of his life to attend the small clubs he was at on a good few occasions.

    I never sang as I can't. I just listened.

    Never has a man had a finer voice than Johnny. So strong and so true.

    I doubt I'll ever hear such a voice again with my own ears.
