@MochaRican It's so good that she is remembering our ancestors and the hell of enslavement foistered upon a beautiful and creative people. One of a very few handful of artists that are making social statements in their music...

certain notes she sings and she sounds like Amerie. Beautiful music

Pure freedom and real identity that escapes from within. Amen

It wasn't until a history class that i realized she was talking about Congo Square in New Orleans, where Black Americans would gather and have all kinds of music everywhere, dancing, have performances, everything. And so much of old African culture could be seen in the dance, the music, and the instrumentation. i think it's bomb that she's honoring her heritage like that.

Love the arrangement and production on this song, her voice is always flawless and oh so very beautiful:)

the song isn't about Arica its about Congo Square in New Orleans
which is where the African slaves congregated on Sundays during slavery. In New Orleans slavery played out differently than in the United States and Sundays slaves were given the day off and allowed to gather, trade, sing, dance and play drums. Often groups formed tribes and relived their Africans experience which is how the square got its name "congo square" the European slave owners would gather and watch
